Design for Widening of the Van Wyck Expressway (I-678), Kew Gardens Interchange to JFK Airport

New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT)

The VWE is the major gateway into and out of JFK Airport. Originally constructed in the 1950’s, it is unable to handle current and projected traffic volumes. Congestion and delays are extensive and exist daily for many hours of the day.

This project will provide preliminary design services to widen the Van Wyck Expressway (I-678) (VWE) in order to add a fourth, and in some locations, fifth lane from the Kew Gardens Interchange to JFK Airport in order to reduce congestion and delays.

EnTech is providing various services during the preliminary design and scoping phase, including geotechnical and environmental surveys, highway/bridge design, and BIM/BrIM (Building Information Modeling/ Bridge Information Modeling) consulting services.
