EnTech staff share insight into new technologies in the infrastructure and construction fields.
EnTech’s VDC group recently brought its expertise in construction technology to the NJ TransAction Conference 2022, in Atlantic City. Vice President of Technology and Innovation Pierce Reynoldson and VDC Engineer Chen Zhou jointly presented “The Future Is Now! Emerging Technology for Infrastructure,” a birds’ eye view of major technology trends in the infrastructure space.
The presentation consisted of two parts. “In the first part, we addressed industry innovation challenges and opportunities,” says Zhou. “We defined what VDC/BIM is and highlighted the importance of VDC/BIM to boost productivity, manage complexity, reduce project delays and cost overruns, and enhance safety and quality.
“In the second part, we demonstrated how VDC/BIM contributes to the infrastructure industry,” Zhou continues. “We shared several case studies from EnTech’s BIM projects for roadways, bridges, transit, water facilities, and facility management in New York and New Jersey. We presented new technologies such as reality capture—including LiDAR, drones, and SLAM—and 3D visualization, including renderings and animations.”
The NJ TransAction Conference features infrastructure professionals specializing in market areas including bus, rail, roads, bridges, goods movement, engineering, planning, pedestrian/bicycle, paratransit, community transportation, and ports. Various public agencies were in attendance, including NJ TRANSIT, NJDOT, PANYNJ, and Amtrak.
